Prism β€” Student Experience Intelligence | LearningMate / Straive
πŸ’Ž Prism Platform Β· UK Higher Education

Your students' risk signals are
already in the data.
Is anyone seeing them?

UK universities hold more student data than ever β€” distributed across SITS, VLE platforms, attendance systems, support tools, and finance. Prism turns that fragmented estate into a single, trusted view of every student's journey, so your academic, support, and leadership teams can act before the window for intervention closes.

Data-rich. Insight-poor. Sound familiar?

The signals that indicate a student is struggling β€” declining VLE activity, missed attendance, accumulating support contacts β€” are often visible in the data weeks before they become visible operationally. But by the time those signals have passed through reporting cycles and surfaced in committee papers, the window for meaningful intervention has frequently passed.

The underlying problem is not a lack of data. It is the absence of a trusted, unified view of the student journey β€” and the tools to make that view actionable for the right people at the right time.

Fragmented data estate

Student records in SITS, engagement in Moodle, attendance in a separate system, support in a case management tool. The signals are there β€” they just don't speak to each other.

Retrospective reporting cycles

By the time retention data surfaces in a termly report or committee paper, the students it describes have already made decisions. You need intelligence that is timely, not historical.

Dashboards built on unreliable foundations

Analytics tools bolted on top of unreconciled source data produce insight that academic staff don't trust β€” and shouldn't. Data quality is a prerequisite, not an afterthought.

Regulatory evidence is hard to produce

Demonstrating the effectiveness of student support investment to OfS, TEF panels, or governing bodies requires evidence that is currently difficult to produce with confidence.

Four layers. One trusted student view.

Prism is built from the data foundations upward β€” designed for the specific systems, governance requirements, and student population of your institution.

Data Connection & Integration

Prism connects to your priority data sources β€” SITS or Tribal, your VLE (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace), attendance systems, admissions, support platforms, and finance. Integration is designed to your architecture. Prism works alongside existing systems.

The Golden Student Record: the discipline most analytics projects skip

The intelligence Prism surfaces is only as good as the data that underpins it. Before building any dashboards or retention models, we define the reconciliation rules that produce a reliable, unified view of each student across your source systems. This is what distinguishes Prism from analytics tools built on inconsistent data β€” and it is why the insight our institutions act on is insight they trust.

Six use cases. One coherent student intelligence capability.

Each use case is a discrete, deliverable capability β€” scoped independently or built progressively as confidence and data maturity develop.

πŸ‘€

360-Degree Student View

A consolidated view of each student's academic journey, engagement, attendance, performance, and support indicators β€” drawn from multiple systems and reconciled into a single trusted record. No more logging into five platforms.

🚨

Retention Insights & Early Warning

Aggregated engagement, performance, and support data combined into a retention risk model. Early warning dashboards give student support teams the ability to prioritise outreach before a student withdraws or disengages completely.

πŸ“ˆ

Engagement Analytics

VLE activity, attendance, and participation signals combined into a nuanced picture of how students engage with their learning environment β€” surfaced at individual, cohort, and programme level.

⚠️

Progression Risk Indicators

Patterns around module performance, assessment outcomes, and engagement behaviour that correlate with progression risk β€” particularly valuable at year transitions, module selection periods, and resit scheduling.

πŸ“‹

Cohort & Demographic Analysis

Understanding whether specific student groups β€” by entry route, demographic marker, mode of study, or programme β€” are experiencing outcomes that diverge from the institutional average. Evidence for widening participation strategy and regulatory reporting.

πŸ›οΈ

Executive Student Success Reporting

Leadership-facing views that translate operational student data into strategic evidence: retention trend analysis, programme performance benchmarking, demographic equity reporting, and OfS-ready outcomes evidence.

Golden Student Record & Student 360 β€” from fragmented estate to trusted learner view

Ravensbourne University engaged LearningMate / Straive to design and deliver a data replatforming proof of concept focused on building a Golden Student Record from their existing SITS, VLE, and support systems data. The challenge was a fragmented data estate with no single, reliable view of the individual student journey β€” and an analytics layer that teams were reluctant to act on because the underlying data quality was uncertain.

Working within Ravensbourne's data governance framework, LearningMate / Straive designed the GSR logic, mapped integration patterns from priority source systems, and delivered a Student 360 proof of concept that gave academic and support staff a consolidated, trustworthy view of each learner β€” drawn from reconciled data for the first time.

Start with a proof of concept. Not a programme.

We do not ask institutions to commit to a multi-year data transformation before they see what Prism looks like in practice. Every engagement begins with a scoped, time-bounded proof of concept targeting a single high-value use case.

We understand UK HE data. And we start with value, not infrastructure.

πŸŽ“

We understand higher education data

SITS, UCAS, Moodle, Banner, HESA, OfS β€” our teams understand the systems, data models, and institutional context that makes UK university student data different from any other sector. We do not generalise from enterprise data architecture.

πŸš€

Value-first, not infrastructure-first

Many data transformation programmes fail because they attempt to solve everything at once. We produce usable intelligence quickly, build institutional confidence, and create a roadmap grounded in demonstrated impact rather than aspiration.

⭐

The Golden Student Record is a discipline, not a product

Building a trusted student view requires rigorous data governance, clear ownership decisions, and careful reconciliation logic. We bring that discipline to every engagement β€” and leave it embedded in the institution's own capability.

πŸ”

The institution owns everything

Every data model, integration pattern, dashboard design, and analytical layer we build is institutional IP. There is no ongoing licence dependency and no vendor lock-in. We are a delivery partner, not a platform supplier.

πŸ‘₯

Designed for the people who need to act

Dashboards designed for data analysts are not the same as dashboards designed for personal tutors or heads of department. We build for the decisions that matter to the people who make them β€” not for the capabilities of the underlying platform.

πŸ›‘οΈ

Governance and compliance by design

UK GDPR requirements, role-based access controls, OfS-ready reporting structures, and HESA data standards are architectural requirements from the start β€” not compliance additions bolted on at the end.
